Week 10

LECTURE

In week10, we finalized poster design and shifted to After Effects exercise, and we were briefed about After Effects at the lecture class.

What is After Effects?

Adobe After Effects is a 2.5D animation software used for animation, visual effects, and motion picture compositing of film, TV, and web video creation.  This software is used in the post-production phase, and has hundreds of effects that can be used to manipulate imagery. This allows you to combine layers of video and images into the same scene.

Adobe After Effects takes a different approach for creating movement. Motion graphics animation works by manipulating vector and rasterized art to create and tell a story. You can integrate physical based media as well through photographs and videography.

(After Effects)

When importing Photoshop file into After Effects, it is important to compose layers in Photoshop. We need to arrange layers and rename these layers to make it easy to be animated.

2. Import the W10_ANIMATE.psd into Adobe After Effects.

3. Create a composition setting 1080 px (Width) x 1920 px (Height), Duration 15 second

4. Create a keyframe animation to the layers using Position (P), Scale (S) & Masking path.

5. Render output: Quicktime (.MOV) or .MP4

6. Upload your exercise into your Youtube Channel.

7. Update your progress and video to your E-Portfolio blog.

8. Attach your E-Portfolio link on this Submission.

I conducted this exercise as watching tutorial video which Mr.Fauzi recorded.

First, created files of each element and imported the collage into PSD file, and set composition and duration.

(Work space)

First, added a rotating motion to the circle at the top. Set keyframes at 0s and 7s, and set the angle at 7s to 45 degrees.

Then, added rotating and scale motions to another circle at the below. Set a keyframe at 7s and changed the scale into 70%, then copied the first keyframe and pasted to end of the composition. Also, changed the right number of the rotating section into 1 to make one rotation in 15 seconds.

Finally, created motion of the fish image. Set a keyframe and set the fish position a little bit higher. Then, moved it a little to the left at 10s, copied the keyframe at 0s to 15s, and finally moved it back its original position.
