1. Idea Development
INTRO | I am Itani Karen and I am from Japan, and I am an exchange student from Japanese Uni. Now, I am 20 years old and my course is Bachelor of Design in Creative Media, but I studied about Sociology particularly, Media communication in Japan. I’m curious about a lot of area such like fashion, beauty, pop culture, technology and so on. |
PARAGRAPH 1 | I'm interested in a variety of things, and have some hobbies such as food, game, fashion, travel, and music. Also, I tend to spend a lot of time once I have interesting in the one thing. |
PARAGRAPH 2 | Often have interest in these contents while browsing the Internet. In particular, I usually watch Youtube, and see what catches my eye, regardless person or genre of the videos. In the result, I got opportunities to know many pastimes and try it. |

INTRO | My work is based on my curious personality and my hobbies. Also, I would like make it fantasy, because I like digital games, fictions or fantasy movies so much. |

Sometimes I hear the opinion that you should master one thing, but I think having many hobbies is not a bad thing, but rather a good thing because it increases the number of things that enrich your life. |

FINAL POSTER | TITLE: My Flavored Softcream |
 | ARTIST STATEMENT: This work is inspired by my hobbies and favorite things, all creatively infused into a soft-serve ice cream design. It embodies my personality and perspective. Here are descriptions of each component that represents my personality and favorite things Citrus: I prefer fruits in food, and grapefruit is one of my favorite fruit Airplane: This is representing that I like travel Cat: Cat is my preferred animal, and I want to live freely like a cat Ribbon: I like looking for fashion items on magazine or SNS. Also, it represents fashion personality because I have a lot of clothes with ribbons. Controller: Playing games is one of my favorite pastimes Flower: Magic wand: I love watching movies, and my favorite genre is fantasy movies, especially “Harry Potter” Record: I usually listen music while going anywhere, and like to search new songs |

It embodies my personality and perspective. Watching fantasy movies or playing game are the time that brings out my curiosity the most, because I feel strong desire to use magic or mysterious power. Also, the two circles of the background represent an effect of the magic. Also, even if I’m facing some difficulties or going through something stressful, traveling and music can cheer me up and refresh me, and the cuteness of cats also soothes me. Besides,flowers, grapefruit, and ribbons also represent an aspect that like reading fashion magazines and interested in clothes and healthy living. This piece is a small, dreamy embodiment of my favorite things. |
